THEME: Voices of Change: Amplifying the Impact and Relevance of Applied Linguistics

This one-day symposium provides a platform for researchers, educators, and postgraduate students to engage in critical discussions on how applied linguistics can drive meaningful change. This year, we explore how our field can elevate diverse perspectives, shape educational practices, and influence language policy in Aotearoa and beyond. We welcome submissions that address pressing issues such as:

  • Learner identities and the dynamics of multilingualism
  • Teacher identities, beliefs, and practices in evolving language landscapes
  • Text linguistics and its role in meaning-making across contexts
  • Discourse analysis in shaping societal narratives
  • Language/languaging and multimodality in digital and physical spaces
